Room 5 “A Lark In The Maze” with Amy Denio ( voice ). Room location, Seattle, WA
Simply one of my favorite musicians of all time, I first became aware of Amy in 1986 when I was sent her home recorded tape on the Sound OF Pig label “No Bones” by Al Margolis. Her deft handling of various instruments and her ability to compose and play in any odd meter always astounded me. Plus, she is silly and darn funny. She plays in too many groups to mention but holds down a spot in The Tiptons Saxophone Ensemble and regularly tours with Kultur Shock, a pan cultural dance and merrymaking unit.
Melancholiaalla, brava forte fronte che fai (to the smart strong front that you make)
A touch of sadness,Put the best front forth, Sharpen the blades and bite
The dark days beget the lighter time, A spindly stick grows from starkness to bloom
A lark in the maze might bring a Minotaur, Laze in the labyrinth ~
